Our lab excursion started with a scenic ride through Mainz on the Gutenberg Express, offering a great overview of the city’s sights. Afterwards, we enjoyed a fun round of black light minigolf, testing our skills in a glowing, creative setting. A relaxed lunch and some ice cream rounded off the day perfectly.

For this year’s Boys and Girls Day, we welcomed curious school graders into our lab for a hands-on introduction to biochemistry and microscopy. The students explored the fascinating differences between human and insect cells under the microscope and learned how to stain human cancer cells using fluorescent dyes that bind either to DNA or the cytoskeleton. A highlight for many was spotting a cell caught in the act of division!
